STOP Israel-US Barbarism of War, Killing and Destruction

Women's organisations including Sammilita Nari Samaj (United women's front) and Narigrantha Prabartana (Women's Resource Centre jointly organised a protest rally against barbaric Israel aggression in Lebanon and the killing of innocent civilians including children and women. The organisations held a protest rally in front of the National Museum, Shahbag, Dhaka on 27 July at 4:30 pm.

The atrocities of Israel are directly supported by the United Stated government. The protestors severely criticised the role of US Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice. Speakers at the rally said, Rice is a shame to World women as she is directly helping implement the patriarchal policies of War and destruction around the world conducted by US. They criticised the role of UN as it is still very quiet and is not taking any action against the aggressors. They demanded immediate ceasefire and end to the ongoing Israeli-US atrocities.

Protestors were carrying placards and banners inscribed with anti-war slogans, particularly 'stop killing innocent civilians' , 'Lebanese people we are with you' Shame on you, Rice,' No to War', 'Killer Israel & America'.

The speakers said that Israel has been carrying out heinous bomb attacks on Lebanon for three weeks, killing hundreds of people, injuring thousands and destroying infrastructure and cities, rendering millions homeless. These attacks are tantamount to crimes against humanity.

The rally was attended by members of various member organisations of Sammilita Nari Samaj including Kormojibi Nari, Samajtantrik Mohila Forum, Nari mukti Sangshad, Srambikash Kendra, UBINIG, Narigrantha Prabartana, Adda and various individuals and human rights and development organisations such as SUPRO, PRODIP etc. Farida Akhter of Sammilita Nari Samaj conducted the rally. Hajera Sultana, Tahera Begum Joly, Sultana Akhter Ruby, Arifa Akhter Anu, Rezaul Karim and Shahadat Islam Chowdhury spoke in the rally. It ended in front of the Dhaka University campus.
