Sweden: feminist gathering summer 2000

                          
Hi!

We are arranging an international gathering in Sweden for revolutionary 
feminists in July 2000.
We are a group of revolutionary feminists. Most of us are anarchafeminists 
but anyway are all of us revolutionary feminists. We got the idea of this 
camp when we travelled in Europe and met other revolutionary feminists who 
were living under other conditions and had not come far in their struggle, 
both in society and in their own revolutionary movement. We even noticed 
that when it comes to supporting other activists, for example anti-fascists, 
in other countries/cities, people often arranges bustrips to help them out 
with different activities. But the lack of support is obvious when it comes 
to women’s struggle. We think this is totally unacceptable and a clear 
reflection of the patriarchal system we all live in. Therefor we decided to 
arrange this gathering with the goal to create a well working international 
network for revolutionary feminists. We fell need to get together and share 
experiences and learn about backlashes, problems and of course progressing 
from each other to become stronger in our fight.

Our definitions of feminism/revolutionary feminism are:

Feminism: to realise that women are structurally oppressed in this 
patriarchal system and to have a will to change that.

Revolutionary feminism: the same ground as “feminism” but with the insight 
that this patriarchal AND capitalistic system is built upon injustice, 
discrimination and oppression. We want a basic change from a grassroot 
level. We do not believe in a change within society’s oppressive frames 
through reformism where the power lies in the hands of few. We realise that 
if we really want a better world built upon equality and solidarity, there 
is only one solution: revolution by the oppressed people!!!

The meeting will be held in English and so far we think we can fix Spanish 
interpreters. But if you are coming and are in need of one or more, please 
write to us as soon as possible so we can do our best to take care of this.

For the moment we are applying for economical support from revolutionary 
groups, alternative schools and from SAC, our syndicalist union.  We want to 
keep the costs down as much as possible with the big expectation that women 
from outside Scandinavia would not pay anything more but their travelling 
costs here. Nothing for food or a place to sleep.  We do not know if this is 
possible yet but as soon as we know, you will hear from us.
We are in desperate need of ideas for workshops and lectures/discussions and 
women who can be responsible for this.
If you feel you want to share your knowledge or experience from something 
you have done, a campaign or a direct action or some other activities, 
please do. We have so much to learn from each other and we do not want this 
gathering to be held by only Swedish women, there is no point in that.
The whole idea of this gathering is that every participant should be 
involved with the planning of it. So send in all your ideas to us and if you 
want to know about something in particular maybe we can arrange someone else 
from anywhere over the world to talk about it. We will put our best to make 
it happen!
