Michael Leon Guerrero is one of New Mexico's leading and most inspiring community organizers. He catalyzes social change from the grassroots as director of the outstanding organization, the SouthWest Organizing Project. Michael works in low-income communities of color throughout New Mexico and is at the forefront of local work on environmental justice, corporate accountability, and globalization. Michael is Chamoru (from Guam), and is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley. He has served as a Co-Chair of the Southwest Network for Environmental and Economic Justice, and Chair of the Network's High Tech Campaign. Currently Michael serves on the Board of the Progressive Technology Project, Jobs with Justice, and the New Mexico Environmental Law Center. He has been recognized as one of "Albuquerque's Rising Stars" in 1993, and has been honored with the Mario Savio Young Activist of the Year Award in 1998, together with several other awards.
