COLOMBIA -AGRARIAN MOBILIZATION MAY 15

OFFICIAL COMUNIQUÉ # 1
NATIONAL AGRARIAN MOBILIZATION
The Executive Committee of Colombia's National Unitarian Federation of Farming Unions FENSUAGRO-CUT, addresses you with the objective of informing you that today May the 15th marks the beginning of an important mobilization of national agrarian protest:
- Against the Free Trade Agreement.
- Against the fumigations, the forced eradication of crops of illicit use and against Plan Patriota / Patriotic Plan.
- Against the re-election and in defence of our National Sovereignty.
- In defence of Human Rights.
- For the right to the land and to an Integral and Democratic Agrarian Reform.
For all these, thousands of peasants, natives and afro-Colombians, are at the moment in permanent mobilization in the following regions of the country: municipalities of the pacific coast (Iscuandé, el Charco and Barbacoas), coast highway bloqueades near Ricaute, el Diviso and Mondomo (Cauca-vía Panamericana); similarly there are peasant concentrations in the departments of Putumayo, Valle and Caldas, an in the jurisdiction of Puerto Toledo (Puerto Rico-Meta).
Up to this moment the mobilizations have been violently repressed: in the municipality of Mondomo Cauca (Pan-American route). Wounded by the hands of the army and the police are the natives and peasants CARLOS URBANO GOMEZ, OSCAR SANCHEZ AND ALEXANDER PEREZ, there is also a large amount of demonstrators arrested and others wounded- numbers not yet confirmed.
Faced with this difficult situation the mobilized communities urgently demand:
1.That the government and the public forces respect the right to free mobilization of the peasant communities.
2.The stop to all violent acts on the part of the public forces, that may attempt against the physical integrity and the life of mobilized peasants and natives.
3.THE IMMEDIATE CONFORMATION OF A NATIONAL TABLE OF NEGOTIATION BETWEEN PEASANTS AND THE GOVERNMENT WITH THE INTENTION OF SEARCHING FOR A DEFINITIVE SOLUTION TO THE CRISIS WE SUFFER IN RURAL COMMUNITIES.

COMUNICADO 01
MOVILIZACIÓN AGRARIA NACIONAL
El comité Ejecutivo de la Federación Nacional sindical Unitaria Agropecuaria FENSUAGRO-CUT, nos dirigimos a ustedes con el objetivo de manifestarles que el día de hoy 15 de mayo se ha dado inicio a una importante jornada de protesta agraria nacional:
- Contra el Tratado de Libre Comercio.
- Contra las fumigaciones, la erradicación forzada de los cultivos de uso ilícito y el Plan Patriota.
- Contra la reelección y por la defensa de la Soberanía Nacional.
- Por la defensa de los Derechos Humanos
- Por el derecho a la tierra y a una Reforma Agraria Integral y Democrática.
En este sentido miles de campesinos, indígenas y afrocolombianos, estamos en estos momentos en movilización permanente en las siguientes regiones del país: cabeceras municipales de la costa pacífica (Iscuandé, el Charco y Barbacoas), bloqueos de la vía al mar a la altura de Ricaute, el Diviso y Mondomo (Cauca-vía Panamericana); de igual manera hay concentración campesina en los departamentos de Putumayo, Valle y Caldas, y en la jurisdicción de Puerto Toledo (Puerto Rico-Meta).
Hasta el momento las movilizaciones han sido reprimidas violentamente: en el municipio de Mondomo Cauca (vía Panamericana), han resultado heridos por parte del ejército y la policía los indígenas y campesinos CARLOS URBANO GÓMEZ, OSCAR SÁNCHEZ Y ALEXANDER PEREZ, también hay una gran cantidad de manifestantes detenidos y otros heridos aún sin precisar.
Ante esta difícil situación las comunidades movilizadas solicitamos urgentemente:
1.Que el gobierno y la fuerza pública respeten el derecho a la libre movilización de las comunidades agrarias.
2.El cese de todo acto violento por parte de la fuerza pública, que pueda atentar contra la integridad física y la vida de los campesinos e indígenas movilizados.
3.CONFORMACIÓN INMEDIATA DE UNA MESA NACIONAL DE NEGOCIACIÓN ENTRE LOS CAMPESINOS Y EL GOBIERNO CON EL OBJETO DE BUSCAR SOLUCIÓN DEFINITIVA A LA CRISIS QUE PADECEMOS LAS COMUNIDADES RURALES.
