Ponte Pueyrredon

Yesterday, Piqueteros blocked 37 routes including Coca Cola and many many other corporate operations around the country but mostly in Buenas Aires.

More than 1,000 Ahhoristas demanding their stolen life savings be repaid, rally outside the central courthouse, with the famous comedian Nito Artaza sending out a message to the 20 million Argentinians living below the poverty line, you have to rebel, you have to wake up, you have the right to work, to health, to social welfare; not only to the mere 150 pesos which they use to manipulate you politically.

The piquetes warn of spiraling violence if demands are not made, while president Duhalde himself chooses to say that the piquetes are disapearing and shall be ignored.

Meanwhile the mayoral candidate of BUENAS AIRES promises to remove by force all squaters, piqueteros, and vendors if he is elected, which signals to me a massive confrontation is doomed to occur yet again as the percentage of the population living below the poverty line has nearly doubled in the last 13 months alone to a shocking 57 percent according to the national statistics bureau INDEC. This at a time when an estimated 20,000 homes and farms have been forclosed on and are on the verge of being auctioned off by the courts to pay the banks.

Raul Castells, head of the independant movement of pensioners and jobless people, responds to the governemtn saying, they dont understand a thing if they believe 200,000 people, who have been removed from the unemployment programme will just sit accept the situation in passive recognition.

Argentinians have shown that political reppression, violent police reppression will not be tolerated as seen in 2001 when after the president declared mandatory curfues, over 1,000,000 people came out to resist this, and you also saw the presidential palace occupied and lit on fire, Que se Vayan Todos, that they all must go is not just a slogan, these movements are here to stay.

Mucho calor, mucha gente y como no podia faltar el clasico apriete policial que dejo como resultado un herido y mas descontento.
