The "World Farmers Day" will be observed by about 20,00000 coconut growing farm families of Karnataka as 'Protest Day' against the free import of Coconuts, Coconut Oil and Palm Oil and the resultant fall in prices and also to demand their right to tap these trees and to manufacture alternative by-products from the coconut juice (which is now prohibited), like Palm-sugar, Palm-Honey and Vinegar.
This gathering of farmers from all the districts of the State has been organised to condemn the Police atrocities unleashed on children, women and senior citizens of various villages to curb this movement of coconut farmers for their 'Right to Life'.
