In Bangladesh,Garment workers today 15.11.02 observed country-wide Festival Bonus Publicity Day according to the previous declation on 11.11.02. This program was organized by the National Garments Workers Federation.

In occation to the festival bonus publicity day,The federation organized a " Garment Workers Human Chain" in capital city Dhaka at 11 a.m. Hundres of garment workers including the women participated in the program. During the program federation leaders:Amirul Haque Amin,Kazi Mohammad Ali,Miss Shahida Sarker,Mojibur Rahman Pintu,Miss Safia Pervin,Mrs Nahar,Alam Kabir, Miss Nurun Nahar and Mrs Arifa Akter addressed.

The speakers said " All the workers and imployess both public and private receive festival bonus.Only the garment sector is different.Majority garment owners deprived the garment workers from festival bonus.Some owners provide festival bonus but it is half or lump sum."

The speakers Added " Garment sector earn 76% foreign money of Bangladesh. It is very unfortunate that - workers of this sector deprived from the festival bonus."

The speakers added more " Festival bonus is the legal right of the garment workers according to the aggreement of BGMEA."

The speakers urged the garment owners to provide festival bonus and outstanding wages within 2nd of December.

They also warned that- if the owners fail to provide festival bonus within 2nd of December, garment workers will start Sit-In Strike and blockade in their concern factories.
