Venedig: Besetzung des tschechischen Pavillons auf der Biennale
Venezia, Italy. 30th september, 16.32
60 white overalls have occupied the Pavilion of the Czech Republic at the
"Biennale" Exhibition of Architecture, to protest against continuing police
repression following the last few days of the Prague protests. They have
barricaded themselves inside the pavilion and unfurled a large banner with
the image of a robocop and the question "Is Democracy dead in the Czech
Republic?", signed Prague 2000.
This initiative of the white overalls movement accompanies the demand for
liberation of those who are
still in prison in the city of Prague. as well as an end to the brutal
repression which has caused
material and moral detriment to the activists of the anti-globalisation
movement .
Another banner with the message "Globalize our Rights" sums up the meaning
of the white overalls' protest.
5.55 p.m.
Massive contingents of police arrive, while the occupiers request the
presence of a representative of the Czech Consulate, in order to hand over
the document from INPEG. Until the arrival of this representative, they
will remain inside the pavilion. The organisers of the Biennale
Exhibition, television crews and journalists are already on the scene.
