Join the Caravan tour 2002, begining on the 17th of August in Bremen till 21st of September in Berlin.

Caravan for the rights of refugees and migrants 2002
The new ?Immigration law? and the ?Anti-terrorism? laws of German Home Minister Otto Schily, pavetheway for one
ofthe hardest attacks against refugees in Germany. The number of deportations and the measure of social isolation
of refugees will increase dramatically. As if this is not enough, the parties willalso use the coming federal
parliamentary elections, as an occasion to intensify racist propaganda, in order to mobilise right-wing voters. No
matter who wins these elections, refugees and migrants will be the losers.
For these reasons, the alliance of the ?Caravan for the rights of refugees and migrants? has decided to organise a
new caravan - tour through Germany this summer, shortly before the federal parliamentary elections. With actions,
discussions and cultural events, this tour should contribute to strengthening the unity of refugees, migrants and
progressive sections of German society, so as to be able to confront the imminent attacks effectively.
"The right to asylum is a human right and not a privilege" is one of the central slogans of the caravan, with which we
put into words our determination, not to accept the tacit abolition of the right to asylum. Instead, we wish to bring
back to memory Germany?s moral responsibility, to offer persecuted people protection. We are not begging for the
?privilege? of becoming part of the privileged world: the caravan for the rights of refugees and migrants expresses this
in the slogan: "We are here, because you destroy our countries". We are not in Germany out of our free will! We
must flee from war, persecution, hunger and misery. We carry with us not only concerns about our uncertain future
in Germany, but also, in our hearts, the uncertainties of the fate of our families and friends, who we had to leave in
our countries. We are conscious, that the economic and political interests of Germany contribute to the problems of
our countries of origin, and we see it as our responsibility, to expose and fight against these interests here.
The caravan - tour is scheduled to start on the 17. August in Bremen. We wish to invite all those, who are involved
in struggles against state racism, and especially against deportations, and all those, who believe that it is now time
to take a common stand with the most marginalised sections of the people in this country. Together we wish to
prepare an appropriate start to the caravan tour in Bremen. We wish to discuss in a common plenum, what
concrete forms the caravan in Bremen will assume from Bremen till the end on the 21st of September in Berlin. In
the centre however should stand the ongoing struggles against deportations. The caravan should offer these
struggles a forum, to present themselves publicly, in order to gain mutual support and strength.

Karawane für die Rechte der Flüchtlinge und Migrant/innen 2002
Mit dem neuen "Zuwanderungsgesetz" und den Sicherheitsgesetzen von Bundesinnenminister Otto Schily steht
den Flüchtlingen in Deutschland der bislang schlimmste Angriff bevor. Die Zahl der Abschiebungen wird sich
demnach drastisch erhöhen und das Maß an sozialer Ausgrenzung der Flüchtlinge wird dramatisch zunehmen.
Doch dem nicht genug, werden die Parteien die kommenden Bundestagswahlen zum Anlass nehmen, die
rassistische Propaganda zu verschärfen, um rechtsgerichtete Wähler zu mobilisieren. Egal wer diese Wahlen
gewinnen wird, Flüchtlinge und Migrant/innen werden die Verlierer sein.
Deshalb hat das Bündnis die ?Karawane für die Rechte der Flüchtlinge und Migrant/innen? beschlossen, in diesem
Sommer, kurz vor den Bundestagswahlen, eine erneute Karawane-Tour mit Aktionen, Diskussionen und kulturellen
Veranstaltungen durch ganz Deutschland zu organisieren. Damit soll die Einheit unter den Flüchtlingen und
Migrant/innen und den progressiven Teilen der deutschen Gesellschaft gestärkt werden, um den bevorstehenden
Angriffen wirksam entgegentreten zu können.
"Asylrecht ist Menschenrecht und kein Privileg" lautet eine der zentralen Parolen der Karawane, mit der wir
ausdrücken wollen, dass wir die stillschweigende Abschaffung des Asylrechts nicht hinnehmen werden, sondern
unnachgiebig an Deutschlands moralische Verantwortung, bedrohten Menschen Schutz vor Verfolgung zu
gewähren, erinnern. Dass wir nicht um die Gnade flehen, Teil der privilegierten Welt zu werden, drückt die Karawane
für die Rechte der Flüchtlinge und Migrant/innen in der Parole aus: "Wir sind hier, weil ihr unsere Länder zerstört".
Wir sind nicht freiwillig in Deutschland! Wir müssen fliehen vor Krieg, Verfolgung, Hunger und Elend. Wir tragen
nicht nur die Sorge über unsere ungewisse Zukunft in Deutschland mit uns, sondern auch die Sorge über das
Schicksal unserer Familien und Freunde, die wir in unserer Heimat zurücklassen mussten, in unseren Herzen. Wir
sind uns darüber bewusst, dass die wirtschaftlichen und politischen Interessen Deutschlands mit zu den Problemen
unserer Herkunftsländer beitragen, und sehen es als unsere Verantwortung an, diese hier anzuklagen.
Der Start der Karawane-Tour ist für den 17. August in Bremen und endet am 21. September in Berlin
vorgesehen. Deshalb wollen wir alle einladen, die bereits gegen staatlichen Rassismus, insbesondere gegen
Abschiebungen kämpfen, und all diejenigen, die der Meinung sind, dass es jetzt an der Zeit ist, mit uns, der am
meisten ausgegrenzten Bevölkerungsgruppe in deutschland, gemeinsam aufzustehen.

Das nächste nationale Karawane Treffen findet vom 17. - 20. Mai in Weimar statt
