ST. LOUIS

Sunday, 11/07/99

Now the days with the long bus rides begin. We leave the Benektiner Convent, where we stayed the night, and hit the road early. In the afternoon we arrive in St. Louis, the city with the Mississippi-steamers. Even McDonalds has got one. But why the hell do they need to have the half of the McDonalds Logo as the landmark of St. Louis?

People of the World Community Center organized a potluck. The World Community Center shelters all kind of different groups like gay- and lesbian groups, Latin American support groups, black people and the Women's International League for Peace and Freedom. Stopping by in all these different towns we get a pretty good impression of the people and their struggles. People here have a long history in resistance. Our host Bud for example is fighting the School of the Americas for years. He had already been in prison for this, but no doubt that he wants to be on the demonstration to shut is down in two weeks, on Nov. 21st. "It can easily happen they will take me to prison again", he says, but he doesn't care.
